Not So Squeezy
  • I used it as clothing
  • I used it in a creative way
  • My intention was to show pride and love for the country!

It’s OK to wear the flag

KUALA LUMPUR: Use it as clothing, headwear or costume.

Malaysians can choose to use the Jalur Gemilang in their most creative style and in any appropriate manner, said Deputy Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Wong Kam Hoong.

However, he added, a person who uses the national flag to cover the seat of his motorcycle, for example, would be showing disrespect to the Jalur Gemilang as he would be sitting on the flag.

“It’s all right if people wear it as an outfit, as long as the intention is to show love and pride for the country,” he told The Star.

Wong said the late Sudirman Arshad wore the Jalur Gemilang as a stage costume when presenting a patriotic song.

“I have seen people wearing it as a uniform in National Day parades and have also seen a young person wearing it as a trendy head scarf,” he added, commenting on a recent wedding where both the bride and groom wore outfits inspired by the Jalur Gemilang.

“It’s easy to draw the line between the appropriate and inappropriate use of the flag – it’s all about the attitude of the wearer.

If it is to show pride and patriotism, it’s okay. But if it is to show disrespect for the flag, then that’s wrong.”

Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin, expressing similar sentiments, said it was all right to be creative in displaying the national flag, including wearing it as clothes, especially during National Day.

“In the United States, they even use their national flag as table cloth during their Independence Day celebration or as a cap. Some people here use it as a songkok,” he said.

“What matters is the intention.”

Acts such as stepping on the flag and setting it on fire were disrespectful to the national emblem, Zainuddin said.

“There are many ways to show your love for the flag. But of course, if you choose to hang it on a toilet door, that is disrespectful,” he added.

He advised Malaysians not to put up flags that were soiled, saying that it would be disrespectful to the national flag.

He also urged Malaysians to mark the National Day celebrations with brand new flags, as this would create a better atmosphere for the auspicious occasion.

Gerkorama and Ambang Merdeka
For those of you who did not go to school today, what a waste.
because Abang Bobby wears like this to school...

Sorry for the red face. It is due to excessive sun-bathing alcohol intake. In addition, I was trying to act macho blushing when the photo session was in progress.

Anyway, ACS celebrated Gerkorama and Ambang Merdeka today. The Ambang Merdeka was supposed to be held tomorrow but since tomorrow is the Retirement Day of our very own Colonel, we had the Ambang Merdeka today.

I reached school at 7.00am.

Assembled at 7.30 and the thing starts at 8.00. It started off with perutusan from the Agong. En. Arif kept using the word 'beta'. So I thought he was referring to me, at first. The event was continued with other perutusans. Mr. Raja Makan Rajamokan has a very bright future of becoming a politician. One of the perutusans was read by him so well.

I led a group of students in the laungan Merdeka. Later, we were asked to sing patriotic songs but we were unprepared because we were not told.

Gang fight occured again.

Eh eh.. No, not gang fight. It was a demonstration by St. John Ambulance.

Pemuda UMNO
Maggi staffs came to sell Maggi. The shirt has the colour combination of UMNO flag huh.

Kawad kaki by the Kadet Remaja

After recess, there were games going on such as volleyball, basketball and sepak takraw. In foyer, congkak, batu seremban and chinese chess were going on.

It rained when everything was about to finish. Nothing more than chaos when it was raining.

This is what happened when you think you are one hottie but no one layan

Perpaduan??

Parking
We are very lucky to have seen so many parking ideas in Malaysia. As for myself, I like to reverse-park because it is much easier to do so. You have your mirror at perfect angle to guide you and of course, blindspot mirror helps too. Different people may have different ways to reverse-park their car. Those that I know of:

1: You trust all the mirrors around your car so much that you rely fully on them. To use this method, you have to go through every single inch of the body of your car and memorise the number of curves your car has. One slight mistake can scratch your car. I have seen many on the back bumper of Toyota Harrier.

2: This is something like the foreman or the "tyre man" does. You turn your body almost 180 degrees to your left and reverse your car. I am in this category. You can actually reverse quite fast by using this way because you don't have to look at the left and right mirror. I would say that most 4Wheelers prefer this way due to the flat back of their car.

3. You see this during your JPJ test. You wind down the window and stick out your head to reverse-park. This is normally done by long-trailer driver because it is too long the vehicle length to look at the mirror. I do this too when I need to park extremely near to a drain. If the drain is on the left side of my car, I rely on blindspot mirror. There is another version of this reverse-parking method for short driver. They don't wind down their window. They open the car door!

4. Okay, okay. No offence on the last sentence of the above method ah. I think there is no more other method besides this method that I learnt today. You don't use any of the above methods but you can still manage to reverse-park your car properly! First, you position your car properly. Then, you start reversing and some cars may have their sensor beeping at the same time. I doubt the sensor works well all the time. So exclude the sensor in this story. You reverse without using the mirror, turning your body 180 degrees, wind down the window nor open the car door. You just sit inside dreaming of what you are dreaming of while the radio plays your favourite song. Suddenly you feel as if your car has climaxed and a soft "moan" could be heard. There you are and you drive forward a little bit just to leave some space between your car and the cement block or perhaps, a car!

Kennysia's ideas which you can use in Semenanjung.

Spotcheck
Spotcheck in school is never a fun thing to have. My school had spotcheck yesterday morning during assembly for the F5. It was unexpected that they went to class by class to check on the L6-ers later on. I am not going to reveal any unnecessary information here but there were 3 things from my class which kena rampas-ed - a handphone, a lipstick and a CD (going to be used for the Principal's farewell). Explaination given but someone did not want to listen. I was lucky, I would say.

Discipline Board has become worse! For you guys info, there is a German student in my school (student exchange programme) and he is allowed by the discipline teacher to bring stuffs that other students cannot. Eg. Handphone. That particular person always say on stage "All of you are the students of this school and you all are abide by the rules and regulations." Doesn't that include the German guy? His handphone was confiscated at first but was given back to him.

I have nothing much to say about that lady but she is a member of NATO, talks too much but nothing is done.

KLCC
My blog belum mati ye..

I went to KLCC with my family yesterday by car. We usually used the LRT. It was really a hassle to drive all the way there. TRAFFIC JAMS! I am not here to say that the traffic lights were not working but the traffic police stopped the line I was in for 20 minutes just to give way to the opposite lanes.

We did not do much shopping though. It was more like a window shopping. I was 'loitering' around alone whereas my parents went their way. Suddenly I spotted a Malay lady with her daughter, young daughter. The daughter was grabbing the mum's ass while walking but the mum did not stop her from doing. I was walking behind them and once, the mum got high and nearly fell. A 'whoow' could be heard. I wanted to laugh but laughing alone is not fun..

Hey guys,

Sorry for being silent for quite sometime. My pc was down severely. So I couldn't get it fixed but to send it to the shop.

Yesterday was my birthday and thank you for all the birthday wishes and messages left on my handphone, msn, friendster, email, tagboard. I would like to also thank for the little gifts, hugs, surprises, 'hyper' surprises etc. I'm sorry if I didn't respond to a few of you all.

Thank you for brightening up my day! *blow kisses*
